What to do with the kids over the Easter holidays

It will soon be the Easter Holidays and a photography session from Paul Saunders Photography can offer two extra benefits.

Firstly, it’s something to do, it can stop the "Mum I'm bored line" for a few hours. The kids love the shoots, we make them fun and because there are no forced poses and smiles the images look totally natural.

Secondly, if you book a session during a weekday over the Easter break you will qualify for a special discount. Quote EASTER at the time of your enquiry for all the details.

The Top 10 Most Frequently Asked Questions

For my family portrait photography services I have come up with the top 10 most frequently asked questions, together with my answers to them. If you want to find out more about my style of photography then there is a short video to watch on the Experience section of my website.

1. Why not use a studio for photography portraits? For many people going to a studio is like going to a dentist. I take away the artificial sterile environment of a studio to make a more relaxing and enjoyable experience that I think provides much better results. Out of a studio there are many more opportunities with different backgrounds and settings that can help create a highly personal set of images.

2. Where does the photography shoot take place? The pictures can be at your house or garden or another location that is special to you. I can suggest a number of potential locations that are within easy reach of where you live.

3. If the shoot is outside, what happens if it rains? Well we are in Scotland! Even in the rain we can get some good shots. However, your session fee covers the taking of a range of different shots, so we might need to add in another session at no extra cost.

4. What if someone in the family doesn’t want to have their photograph taken?
Some of my best shots have been from children and adults who have not wanted to have their photograph taken. I work with the person to relax them without forcing them.

5. What if a member of the family is ill?
If so then we can cancel the photo shoot, your paid session fee will then apply for a re-arranged photo shoot.

6. How long will the photo session take place? Generally the experience will be around two hours. We might use a few locations so that can add some time. I am conscious though to keep the session interesting and enjoyable for everyone, especially the children.

7. What should we wear and bring with us? Before the shoot we can talk about choices for clothes, it is good to have a few different looks and options. We might also look at how we can incorporate hobbies and interests into the shoot too.

8. How much does it cost?
There are more details of pricing on my website. However the standard session fee is £75 for the shoot and preparation of the images. Albums range from £475 to £1150, framed images range from £165 to £685 with many options of frames designs to choose. I also offer canvas wraps from £200 plus the highly popular box frames from £130. Desktop framed pictures start at £40 and tabletop images from £100. I take most major credit and debit cards and have a special promotional offer on each month for selected product.

9. When do I see the images?
Within three weeks of the shoot I will visit you at an arranged day and time so that I can present the images. At that time it is good to get all of the family together to view the images and to select the ones that you would like to buy. However, there is no obligation to purchase, the only fixed cost is the £75 session fee.

10. Can I have the images on a disc, or the prints on their own?
I don’t offer this service, as part of the experience that I provide is the amazing quality, finish and product from the UK’s best photography labs, which are available only to professional photographers.

I hope this answers some of your questions, if you have any other ones please do note hesitate to call me on 07810 481426.

Brand New Website

Yesterday I launched my brand new website paulsaundersphotography.com. Thank-you for the many positive comments that I have received about the new website.

The website was made by Freebird who did an outstanding job, despite a very picky customer (me!). Thank you to all the team there for doing such a superb job.

This blog and my photography Facebook page are also the places to keep up to date with news and offers.

Calling All Cute Cats & Dogs

I often get asked if my family photography extends to pets and of course the answer is YES. Well the pets are very important members of the family aren't they? In fact a couple of clients have told me that they would rather have pictures of their pets than their children! Don't worry I won't name names.

This cat is called Fred and he posed beautifully for me. The picture was taken in the same way that I shoot the rest of the family images, using natural light. It was taken at the clients home, which saves a traumatic trip (for animal and owner) to the studio.

I am looking to create a new range of images for family pets so if you've got a cute four legged friend that you would like some free shot of and if you're in the Glasgow, Stirling or Loch Lomond area then get in touch.

James Bond Shoot

I really enjoy being the official photographer for the Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow. The fund raising team are good fun and alway arrange interesting shoots for me, like this one – a 007 special to promote the James Bond theme for their up coming Daffodil Ball at The Hilton Hotel in March.

Playing their parts as Bond and Bond girl respectively is comedian Davey See who thankfully was more Daniel Craig than Roger Moore and Nieve Jennings, former Miss Scotland and Miss UK – who would give any of the Bond girls a run for their money.

This picture from the shoot was featured in The Glasgow Evening Times and if you want to go and be Bond yourself at the ball you can get tickets at £80 each by calling 0141 557 7575 or e-mailing supportglasgow@mariecurie.org.uk
