£1000 Free Photography Deal for a Scottish Charity

As we start a new year I am announcing something very special for charities in Scotland. For 2014 I want to offer one Scottish Charity £1,000 worth of free photography.

I am looking to find a charity that I can work with to create compelling and emotive pictures that will help to demonstrate the difference that they make allowing them to reach out and engage positively with existing and new audiences.

The photography projects that I work with businesses on are strategically and creatively designed to achieve a strong impact and I would like to provide that service for one charity on a no cost basis (up to the value of £1,000) during 2014.

Previously I have worked with charities including Cancer Support Scotland, Radio Clyde's Cash for Kids, Yorkhill Childrens's Foundation, The Loch Lomond Steamship Company, Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow and the Friends of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs.

I am based in Loch Lomond and ideally would like to work with a charity that is located in the Central Belt.

The prize includes photography coverage up to the value of £1,000 which would allow one session per quarter.

My apologies in advance though as I can only take on one charity on this basis, but what I will be able to offer is a real commitment to providing images that will hopefully generate interest, engagement and support for them. Ultimately I am looking for a charity that I can add some real value to with impactful images that tell stories. So the more creative your approach and ideas are the better!

10 Scottish Charities for 2012

As 2012 began I set myself some targets, one of those I am pleased to say has been achieved.

The idea came about after a photography session that I did last year for a family on Glasgow’s South Side. (Example picture below).

The Greene family got in touch after buying a voucher in an auction at The Marie Curie Hospice Daffodil Ball. I had donated it after volunteering to take photographs at their fundraising events.

I really enjoyed taking both the promotional pictures for the Marie Curie Hospice and the session for the Greene Family. So this years I decided to do it again, but to this time include more charities.

So in January I wrote a blog offering a total of 10 charities, each a £250 voucher to auction or raffle. This was a pledge for £2,500 to help deserving Scottish causes.

This isn’t really much, but I hope that it helps. Speaking to charities they all say that the numbers of companies donating items has decreased in these tough times, so hopefully, as they say every little helps!

Back in January the blog that I posted received a lot of attention and I am now delighted to be able to confirm that I have been able to provide 10 charities with their requested vouchers.

OneKind is an animal protection charity based in Edinburgh; they have already used their voucher, during a fund-raising Burns Supper. Cahoona’s Scotland used one at their charity ball last month.

The Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund will be using their £250 voucher at a concert on the 15th June, where they are raising money to build a respite home in Stirling. Keep Scotland Beautiful, who too are based in Scotland have also received a voucher.

Another charity benefiting is Yorkhill Children’s Foundation; they do incredible work providing equipment and facilities to help children in their time of hospital. This Saturday night it is once again The Marie Curie Hospice Daffodil Ball in Glasgow and they will be auctioning their voucher during it.

In my village of Drymen there is an inspirational fundraiser, Libby Emmerson, who works tirelessly to help others. I was pleased to donate a voucher for her event The Big Shindig that raised money earlier in the year for The Maggie’s Centre.

Completing the group of 10 charities are Cancer Support Scotland, Scottish Autism and MS Society Scotland. I wish them all well with their fundraising in 2012.

A Special Offer for Charities in Scotland

If you are involved with a charity you may have had the sometimes thankless task of sourcing raffle prizes. In this climate it's even harder, despite there being so many generous people out there.

Hopefully a few phone calls may be saved now as I am offering 10 charities in West, East and Central Scotland a £250 photography voucher each. They can be put to good use to raise funds in 2012 in an auction or raffle.

The voucher can be used against any of my services including Family Portraits and Wedding Photography.

The picture above was from a photography session for a family in Glasgow. They used a voucher, which they successfully bid for at The Marie Curie Glasgow Hospice Ball last year, to get a session. This picture, along with others from the session were selected by them to be included in a beautiful album, paid for by their voucher. Their donation to get the voucher helped to raise funds for a very deserving charity.

The first of the ten vouchers has already gone to The Big Shindig happening in Drymen, Loch Lomond next month which is raising money for The Maggies Centre in Glasgow. But there is still 9 left, so if you are involved in a charity or good cause that would be able to raise funds from a £250 voucher please get in touch and I will be happy to help.

Marie Curie Hospice Glasgow - Daffodil Ball

on Saturday night it was the James Bond themed Marie Curie Daffodil Ball to raise much needed funds for the running of their Glasgow Hospice. The charity needs £6000 of voluntary donations to run the hospice each and every day.

BBC Radio Bryan Burnett hosted the night superbly and there were also guest appearances from STV's weather man Sean Batty and Greg Hemphill of Still Game fame.

I was the photographer for the event and had a very enjoyable night. Here are just a few of the pictures from the night.

James Bond Shoot

I really enjoy being the official photographer for the Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow. The fund raising team are good fun and alway arrange interesting shoots for me, like this one – a 007 special to promote the James Bond theme for their up coming Daffodil Ball at The Hilton Hotel in March.

Playing their parts as Bond and Bond girl respectively is comedian Davey See who thankfully was more Daniel Craig than Roger Moore and Nieve Jennings, former Miss Scotland and Miss UK – who would give any of the Bond girls a run for their money.
