Taking Better Pictures - Photography Course at Knockderry Country House Hotel

On Sunday I hosted my first photography training course called ‘Taking Better Pictures’, an introduction to DSLR photography for six people at Knockderry Country House Hotel in Cove, Helensburgh.

My thanks go to Wilson, Gordon, Jen, Di, Stuart and Rachael who took part, especially Rachael who came all the way from Kendal in the Lake District! 

Through the day I taught them how to take control of their cameras, to be more creative and to take better pictures. By the end of the morning all were successfully using them on full manual mode and had a good understanding of how to work with different natural light and to set their cameras for different situations. 

Using the amazing training facilities and loch-side grounds of Knockderry Country House Hotel we were able to mix classroom style learning with plenty of hands on practical skills. Knockderry famous for a high quality of food provided a beautiful lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

In the afternoon, armed with new skills the group went to the beach and then to nearby gardens to put to use their knowledge to capture a series of stunning images to take away. 

By the end of the day each delegate went away with confidence about how to get the best out of their camera. They also each got a copy of the presentation and an invitation to a Facebook group where they can share future pictures and projects.
